“Gary has a unique combination – a thoughtful sense of composition, an artist’s eye to see beyond the obvious, and the technical skills to produce images that complement and enhance our work.”

Gary Hall is an internationally-published architectural and fine arts photographer, whose architectural photography has garnered numerous design awards. An affiliate member of the American Institute of Architects, he has been on assignment for clients such as the prestigious Relais & Chateaux group of small hotels and was recently awarded a fellowship to spend a month photographing the ancient hill town of Civita di Bagnoregio, Italy. He also photographed for the best-selling book ADIRONDACK STYLE, which features contemporary interpretations of rustic-style architecture.
Gary’s past jobs have taken him to Africa shooting aerials for a helicopter safari outfit, flying across Tanzania to make eco-tourism images of luxury tent camps and island villas, to Costa Rica and the Bahamas to promote small quintessential hideaways, and boating along the coast of Panama capturing the beauty of tropical island retreats for celebrity jet-setters.
His luminous B&W landscape prints grace the halls of many corporate buildings and in the stylish homes of private collectors. These prints are exhibited frequently and can be procured through the Edgewater Gallery in Middlebury, Vermont, the Metro Gallery in Burlington, Vermont, or directly from the photographer himself.
Gary studied fine arts photography at Southern Illinois University under the tutelage of Charles Swedlund, a student of Aron Siskind. From his birthplace and home in Vermont, USA, he has been exploring the landscapes of the lush Champlain Valley for over 40 years now. He is the proud father of three accomplished sons, is a printmaker and jazz guitarist.
“Having worked with Gary for many years now, we have come to expect nothing less than the extraordinary from him.” - GM John Graham, Lake Placid Lodge
“Gary’s dedication on the shoot is second to none. He has elevated our portfolio to another level. He has a way of capturing the spirit of our buildings.”
-Jennifer Darling, Banwell Architects
“We sent Gary to the wilds of Tanzania with his knapsack and a helicopter and he managed to return with world-class images that looked like he had brought a team of assistants.”
-President John Steinly, Sanctuare Properties
“Construction at the resort was not quite complete, and the hurricane clean-up was still in progress, but somehow Gary made the shots appear that all was perfect.”
-Creative Director Diana DeLucia, Artful Voyager
"Combining classical composition enhanced with digital darkroom techniques to create strikingly luminescent pigment prints, Gary Hall's contemporary landscape photography examines our notions of pastoral beauty, capturing a preternatural image of the Vermont landscape."
-Burlington City Arts Center Exhibition: Human=Landscape
"I am attracted to landscapes that have a timeless appeal. I am drawn to the movements and reflections of water as a liquid, its sculptural pulse as snow, it’s ambiguity as fog as well as it’s abstract qualities while frozen. Rock and stone – once in a liquid state under great heat or bent by intense pressure, leave lasting impressions. Evidence of glaciers in the form of lakes and boulders left behind, present a recurring theme. Guided by the light created by various weather phenomenon, it is the interaction of these seemingly primordial states, along with the various signatures of man, that intrigue me."
